Almost a year ago I started the 90 Day SSS plan and this last year has brought the most changes to my life since the birth of my twin sons. I’ve discovered a love for exercise to the extent that I’ve just joined a gym (!!). I’ve always loved to cook but I’ve learned that I know how to make lean and simple versions of everyday foods that I love, so you can imagine my delight to find so many like-minded people who love to make my recipes and tag me on social media.
Instagram has been a great way to share my weight loss journey; the highs, the lows and of course my recipe ideas. While the name I chose at the start really came from my blog on trying to decide how I would once and for all tackle my weight and issues surround my body confidence, I don’t think the name represents the person I am today.
Having completed the 90 day plan twice and now following the SAS plan, I still have lots of plan friendly recipes that I’ve yet to get around to making and sharing, but I’m also really interested in other aspects of ‘eating for wellness’. I call it that instead of referring to it as ‘this diet or that diet’ as it’s not about weight loss or deprivation. I know first hand that changing how you eat can improve your overall health. My husband was diagnosed with a health condition and by eliminating processed/packet foods he was symptom free within a year and medically discharged. I’m really interested in what’s termed the Mediterranean diet which is how we ate growing up coming from a Sicilian/Italian family, I love vegetarian food and I’m really interested in the latest phenomenon which is gut health – did you know the gut contains the same cells as those found in the brain? It’s really interesting stuff!!
I don’t want to start hiding what I’m making and I’d love to take you on a voyage of discovery. While making lots of lovely dishes to help me with my journey to a leaner life but at the same time improving my overall health and wellbeing without resorting to strange fads or eliminating food groups.
So today is the first page of a shiny new chapter of my life. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who’s tried my recipes, liked or commented on a post or even reached out to me for help or advice. Your overwhelming energy and support has kept me motivated throughout and inspires me to work harder even though some days I’m tied to the children and their needs.
So today I am The Lean Cook, and I’m really excited at the possibilities ahead. mydietburble.com remains my website and my Facebook group mydietburble remains unchanged and continues to grow to help and support others. My recipe app is almost finished and I’m looking forward to my next culinary adventures.
A year ago you didn’t know me from Adam yet you embraced me as mydietburble and I hope you’ll enjoy my next chapter. I’m still Nella, the burble lady but ultimately I’m still a wife, a mum and a cook.
